The Origin of Geometry describes the necessity of this exposition of reason in a worldly inscription. An exposition indispensable to the constitution of truth and the ideality of objects, but which is also the danger to meaning from what is outside the sign. In the moment of writing, the sign can always 'empty' itself, take fright from awakening, from ;reactivation' and may remain forever closed and mute. as for Cournot, writing here is the "critical epoch".
