Les mots et les chosesはフーコの冗談だといわれておりますが、それにしても'The order of things'という訳には「ちょっとねー」と当惑いたします。「言葉と物」の本文の英訳がそれほど正確かとおもうときは、英語圏の読者が読みやすいように内容が説明されすぎたときに起きるのでしょうね。くらべると、いかに渡辺氏がフーコの文体を生かして和訳しているのかわかります。心は非常にあつく、頭は大変クール。今日読み直す価値があるとしたら、近代世界の解釈がいかに成り立ってくるのかを考えることを手伝ってくれるかもしれません。深読み的に、この解釈とかあの解釈とかどんな解釈があるのかを問うことに終始せずに、近代に入ると解釈そのものがいかに存在してくるのか、と、近代の人間がどうしようもなく内側から依存する(多種多様な解釈を生み出す)言説の空間の意味を表層的に問うことが本当に大切。なんでもかんでも数で決めてきた自民党...政治のなかで、「数だけではない」をいう官房長官の少数意見尊重ほどグロテスクなインチキはありません。心がかくも非常に冷たく頭がかくも沸騰している、繰り返されてきたこのような権威的な解釈を外から相対化するために一体どうするのか。
